Cialis Ingredients

As with any drug or medicine that you can take, Cialis is comprised of active and inactive ingredients. In Cialis, there is one main active ingredient, which is the main “drug”, and multiple inactive ingredients that all serve various purposes. The important thing to remember is that all the ingredients in Cialis work together to enable the drug to serve its intended purpose.

Active Ingredient

The active ingredient, or the main drug and composition, of Cialis is called Tadalafil. Tadalafil can be used to treat erectile dysfunction, but it can also be used to treat other heart conditions as well. Tadalafil is considered a vasodilator, as it relaxes the blood vessels in order to increase blood flow.

While Tadalafil is approved by the FDA in America and is considered relatively safe, as with any drug there are precautions you should take. It is advised that you should not drink alcohol with Tadalafil, as it can have a negative reaction. This is also true of grapefruits, as the acids in the fruit can react badly with Tadalafil. It is not lethal, but can lead to unpleasant side effects in some cases.

Generally, Tadalafil will have few side effects, if any. However, in some cases, there are reports of light headedness or headaches, ringing in the ears, or dizziness. This is most likely a result of the increased circulation, but again, these side effects are not common. The only other concern of Tadalafil (when taken as Cialis, as Tadalafil is present in other drugs) is the potential for an erection that will not go away. In cases such as that, it is necessary to see a medical professional for assistance.

Overall, as a vasodilator, Tadalafil’s purpose is to increase blood flow to certain areas of the body, including the penis – which is how Cialis helps to maintain an erection. It will not create an erection, but it will certainly help.

 

Inactive Ingredients

The inactive ingredients of Cialis include various chemicals and substances that keep the drug secure, clean, and protected prior to you taking it. It also helps your body process the medicine easier. There are a number of inactive ingredients, including the following: microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, magnesium stearate, lactose monohydrate, croscarmellose sodium, triacetin, talc, sodium lauryl sulphate, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, and hypermellose.

Each one of these inactive ingredients serve a purpose, even if the purpose is purely aesthetic or to make it easier to take.

The microcrystalline cellulose is often used for multivitamins, and it helps to form the outer “shell” of the pill to keep the drug packed in and easier to take. Microcrystalline cellulose is used often in food production and is perfectly safe. It has no effect on Cialis aside from holding it together. Hypermellose serves a similar purpose.

Hydroxypropyl cellulose, as well, is used to keep the Cialis pills compact and together. It is used as a “binder” in many other pharmaceutical capacities, and it helps keep the Cialis pill small and manageable for swallowing.

Magnesium stearate is a chemical compound used to allow for the slower release over time of the drug. It helps keep Cialis working over a period of time instead of a brief moment. It is also used in the initial packaging of Cialis, to help keep the ingredients malleable and working together.

Lactose monohydrate is mainly important during the creation of the Cialis tablet, and helps make it “compact”.

Croscarmellose sodium is the opposite of many of the inactive ingredients above. Its main purpose is to aid the body in the disintegration and distribution of the drug once you have swallowed it. It helps to break up the pill in order to reach the active ingredient.

Triacetin and talc help create the actual pill itself, and they are typically used for “filler” as part of the pill but have no effect on the body. Sodium lauryl sulphate helps with the dissolving of the “outer” part of Cialis to help protect the pill until ingested. Titanium dioxide helps create the Cialis colouring. Iron oxide is used often in blood-related medicines.

There is no need to be. The important thing to remember is that all of weird-sounding ingredients are inactive, and simply help in the formation and maintenance of Cialis. The only active ingredient that has any effect on your body is Tadalafil, which is what makes Cialis successful.
